The UN should take the blame
It is a long wait, long wait for almost four years hoping the
Eritrean and Ethiopian people to end their problems peacefully. However,
the international community disregarded the problems of these two
countries.
In December 2000, the delegation of the two countries signed
a peace treaty as final and binding but Ethiopia rejected the verdict when the
border commission announced Badme is belong Eritrea. What was the reaction of
UN when Ethiopia rejected the border commution decision? It is very
hard to believe for us when UN became silent when Ethiopia rejected
the commission decision. It is clear for us, Eritreans the UN’s silence by
not trying to implement the decision according to the agreement while they have
the power to do so. We the Eritrean people feel very offended by UN’s
overall working performance from day to day. The UN, instead of facing the
reality, every now and then blames to its victim and the innocent Eritrea.
The truth is clear; but for UN, it is easier to blame Etitrean
government. The truth is these: Ethiopian refusal of the Algeries
agreement and the UN’s unjust. Why the UN could not put pressure on
Ethiopia to accept the commission decision? That is the question Mr. Annan
should answer. If the situation in Eritrea/Ethiopia got worse and leads
toward another round war, we will not forgive UN nor forget its unjust
roll in our region.
A cry of the Eritrean people for justice seems a
jock to UN but not for God. UN may think it is powerful and has the
ability to twist the justice to any direction she wants but it could not
be as powerful as God. We the Eritrean fail from the UN’s unjust but we
will win the help of God.
