On Sunday afternoon October 8th, 2006 I got a call from a friend of mine and with his somber voice he gave me the sad news of a friend and a person whom I have had the honor of working on a few projects and who happens to be one of the most talented muscians I have come across. It ruined my day to hear such a talented and creative person with so much passion for music lose his life at a young age. I will try to reflect back at the working and sometimes personal relationship I have had with Abraham. Right before his first CD release, Abraham came up to me and said Mike! I would love for you to hear the sounds of my CD without any lyrics and tell me what you think, because through your ears I can measure how others may accept the CD. As an avid music fan, I felt honored and once I started to hear the great sounds coming out of his studio version, I was mesmerized by the cool sounds that included acoustic guitars as well as many other modern and traditional instruments. Abraham was geniune and he was a perfectionist with his music which made him a pioneer in transforming our traditional music

Truly, this is a bad news to all musicians especially to Tigreana-music lovers, and more importantly a great loss to the family of Abraham Afewerki. It is not only an Eritrean loss of a great talented artist, but it is a loss of many Ethiopians who loved his music and quite frankly the world has just lost a great artist who possessed a unique talent. On behave of my family and many Ethiopians, I would like to express my condolences to the family of Abraham Afewerki and the family of Robel Solomon. Abraham and Solomon rest in peace and may God bless your souls.
