The power of thinking
A two-week long seminar, by Mr. Robel Kidane, a Stress and
Relationship Couch, unveiled the truth about the power of thinking in the lives
of many Eritrean residents, in Seattle and the surrounding areas. The message
was focused on self-awareness, self-actualization and how one can change his or
her way of thinking to lead to a better and more fulfilling life. After a
number of collective group presentations, a significant number of participants
felt and expressed the need to re-connect with themselves and one another.
In these energy charged seminars and presentations, over
1,500 people from all walks of Eritrean life participated. In addition to the
formal and general presentation on the dynamics of a well-balanced life, Mr.
Kidane, during his last sessions, separated the men and the women to give each
a more focused set of responsibilities to help initiate positive action. During
question and answer sessions, many openly admitted their mistakes with handling
conflicts and managing stress, and pledged to start fresh by thinking and
focusing on the positive rather than on the negative aspects of self and
others.
Others expressed their satisfaction, appreciation, joy as
well as a commitment to work as a team by either making cash donations and/or
simply staying positive about the potential good in turning their life around.
Mr. Kidane started each of the five sessions with either a
question about the present state of mind of his audience, telling a funny
Eritrean jock or sharing a little bit of his life experience. Besides his
relevant and engaging topics, his humor and the occasional breathing and
stretching breaks helped participants refuel their brains and remain focused
for more than 3 hours at a time.
In all, it was very evident that people were ready for a
change and the timing for Mr. Kidane’s arrival to Seattle was all too perfect.
Our youth, adults, and even our elderly are vowing to do what it takes to pick
up the broken and missing pieces of life in our homes and our community to make
it a whole again.
Mr. Kidane showed us the door; it is now up to each and
every one of us to move forward towards unity for the sake of our lives, and
most importantly, the lives of our precious children. God help us in this new journey.
