Eritrea loses to Angola by the score of 6-1.
It is very annoying! The half time score was 3-0 but
Eritrea did hold for the first 30 minutes and all of a
sudden they let 3 goals slip by. I just don't
understand it. The coaches need to be questioned here.
Why did they not use 5 professional players that are
playing outside of the country. They may not be as big
as other international stars but why did we not
utilize their skills? I mean this is no rocket
science. Angola did it, even African giants Ivory
coast brought the likes of Didier Drogba to play
against a weak Madagascar team.
Eritrea may still not be out of this tournament
but their chances went down a lot as Kenya beat
Swaziland 2-0. What is going on with the national
program in Eritrea? I think we should all ask that
question and need to discuss it. The talent is there
the stadiums have been fixed and the teams have shown
signs of brilliance over and over again only to mess
it up badly when it truly counts.
I am very highly upset over this loss but
after
all we all need to discuss this issue if we are going
to see Eritrea succeed. We need to let the federation
back home know that they have to get inputs from all
over and share ideas. Soccer is a passion to many in
Eritrea and we have a long history in the game that
was taken away from us by others in the past. We must
show that we are capable of playing at the world level
by encouraging the national teams.
What is even more upsetting is that out
of the 5
professional players playing in Yemen and Sudan three
of them were recalled in the game against Swaziland
when Eritrea played in Asmara and they contributed
defensively and missed many goals despite the score
showing 0-0. The Five player are as follows Elia
Debbesai and Frezghi Berhe playing in Yemen, Suilman
Mohammed (AKA SUKOY for his fast speed), Yonas
Fessehaie a great defender and Haile Goitom another
standout who are playing in Sudan. Hopefully the
coaches will explain this on ERI-TV.
I want to also congratulate one of the
top
players for Eritrea who always gives it his best. I
believe he is our biggest star so far. Yidnekachew
Shimengus who always finds the net and brings a little
respect to our national team.

Finally Angola was a good host despite Eritrea's
disappointment and here is a link for those of you who
understand Portuguese to see a Pre-game report that
shows the Eritrean national team preparing for the
game.
The website is as follows and once you get in click on
the Multimedia which will then show you three TV
programs. Pick the third and last one which says
Diário Desportivo in Green and the first 4 minutes
shows the video of the Eritrean team preparing.

We need to constructively criticize the program
to
make it better and I as a big fan of the game and the
Eritrean national team would like to share your ideas
as well.
Viva Eritrea! NO MATTER WHAT!
