     As Eritrea approaches it's 16th year of existence
as an independent nation the feeling of nationalism
amongst many of it's proud citizens should climb
higher than ever. Reflecting back to 1991 this nation
of peace and tranquility rose like a Phoenix from the
ashes after being forgotten by the world for many
years. It continues today, to show discipline and a
clear understanding of why it is so important to be
self reliant and being able to dictate it's own
polices.
     Eritrea not only has proven that it is able to
maintain peace and development within it's boundaries
but it is becoming a nation dedicated to seeing that
it's neighborhood also learns a few things from it.
Everyone in the region seems to accept the Eritrean
ideology of Pan-African unity with the exception of
one big bully next door to the south. Eritrea has made
progress without being intimidated and making an
irrational judgment that would have cost it what it
has cherished for the past 16 years.
     All the old tricks have been used against this
nation to weaken it. Including the use of it's own
citizens to create division and discord. All have
failed miserably. Despite all the defamation and
negative campaigns that keep popping up every time
Eritrea makes positive international news headlines
the nation of nine ethnic groups and several religions
continues to prosper and play a role in creating a
peaceful region in the whole East and horn of Africa
region.
     The majority of the oppressed Ethiopian people
who have not been able to see the light at the end of
the tunnel are starting to witness the reality of the
corrupted leadership in their country. In Sudan peace
and prosperity is on it's way thanks to a big role
being played by Eritrea and the people of Sudan whom
Eritreans will always support. The Somali's who are
suffering as a result of a WAR waged by a terrorist
minority regime in Addis along with a weak Govt must
stop harassing innocent people in the name of hunting
terrorists. Eritrea's only desire is to stop the abuse
of the Somalian people by a regional bully and to let
Somali's solve their own problems. Eritrea has proven
over and over that it can make a difference by
bringing all sides together. The transitional govt. of
Somalia will eventually fall if they continue to abuse
their power. In order for peace to prevail Somalis
must be willing to solve their own problems. Just like
Sudan did, the Somali's with the help of genuine
neighbors like Eritrea will one day see their
potential.
     On the domestic end despite a tough economic
challenge Eritrea continues to prosper. Development is
being carried out each day. In order for any nation to
have an economic boom, it must first build basic
infrastructure. The Eritrean Government is committed
to building bridges, highways, dams, hospitals,
schools and the basic necessities of life for all of
it's people. Part of the struggle to sustain self
reliance continues at a high rate. As a result of
betrayal by our neighbors to the south the economy of
our new nation was slightly bowed but not broken. When
the war was waged on Eritrea it was with the intention
to hold it hostage economically as well but throughout
the past nine years the land of Yikealo and Warsai has
become stronger and will only depend on it's own will
and power to come back as a strong Economic power in
the region.
     With all that's happening in the region and in
Eritrea one only needs to see that Eritrea truly is
blessed with visionary people. It's hard work and
dedication to win the peace will bear fruit. All that
needs to be said has been repeated many times. The EU
has realized that Eritrea is a partner and not just
another victim of colonialism. Eritrea is showing the
best of them that it is a CAN DO nation blessed with
people who will change the way of life in the region
and all of Africa. Eritrea's model can only succeed
since for the past few decades not many other African
nations have something to ride home about. Eritrea has
learned from the experiences of many as the newest
nation in Africa. It is now a 16 year old teenager
that has proven it can be a mature, wise and bright
nation with so much ahead of her.

Happy Birth day to Eritrea. Here is a Poem dedicated
to you on your 16th birthday. Thanks to your visionary
leaders. You are the hope of Africa.

    
Surrounded by mountains and sea,
that are long and wide
You always sit pretty like a new bride
At sixteen years you are true and free
You are the enemy of tyranny
You offer hope and stand by those who are in need
Be it Somalis, Sudanese, or anyone who is oppressed
A life of long lasting peace,

As multi ethnic as your inclusive land,
