Haben, an
Eritrean-American Rising star (SHINGRWA) featured on the Maury Povich Show On Tuesday, May 6th, Haben Abraham, a 10-year-old singer from
Seattle had the audience on their feet when she sang Beyonce's
“Irreplaceable” on the Maury Povich Show. With a rich voice
combined with a touch of an internationally flavored style of movement, she
easily reached out to every listener’s heart and soul. Imagine a 10 year old
traveling and singing about love, peace and harmony, when you would think
she'd rather spend her time out of school, socializing and having “fun” with
her friends. Instead, Haben is enjoying singing her favorite songs in
different special events locally and nationally. Haben, with her unbelievable talents, surprised everyone with her
passion for singing. Sometimes, as
parents, we allow our fear to keep our children from delving deeper into
their real self and find who they really are. We start doubting them and
worrying about all the negative things might happen to them in the future.
Instead, if we seriously pay attention to them, they soon begin to see the
way and they start flourishing towards their fullest potential. Obviously,
Haben’s parents did just that. I commend them for being the perfect examples
for all the parents with young children like Haben and her sisters. Our
precious young are our future identity, the pride of our heritage. Haben
(which means PRIDE) is not only Haben for her family, she is also Haben for
us all. Haben’s character and her talents were
beautifully described in a recently
well-written article in the Seattle PI. “She’s a personable 10-year-old with
a demeanor that melts hears—and that’s even before Renton’s Haben Abraham
opens her mouth to sing. Then jaws drop and audience members are sometimes so
moved they dab at tears.” It is obvious that Haben has the perfect
ingredients to be what she can and dreams to be. The sky is the limit for
Haben, and her two equally talented sisters, Salina and Lianda. If you have not done yet, please go to http://talented.mauryshow.com and
