In Memoriam: What I Witnessed

A nation in grief,

For a beloved son

A patriot

A nation honor,

Honor a man

A family man,

A father

I witnessed a nation grieving,

A loss of a victor

A dedicated soul

A friend of all

I witnessed love,

For a dedicated one

For a visionary man,

A man of destiny

A man of missions

Able man

And capable for much-more than many

I witness a torch,

The brother lit

A torch that must be carried

To further the legacies he anchored

I witness a nation,

Express gratitude with sorrow,

To a man

That broke grounds in virgin land

In a nation hungry for everything

A nation with needs

A nation with limited means

But, a nation with a dreams and direction

I witnessed,

The delivery on that dream

With zest, brilliance, wit, stealth…

The highest achievements many can’t dream

Let alone achieve.

I witnessed,

One Eritrean man,

Become a symbol,

A symbol of Eritrean honor

Ensuring The Eritrean pride

I witnessed,

In passing,

One man

More than all his achievements in life

Glorify

Eritrean martyrs

And the reasons they passed

I witnessed,

The martyrs assured

Their passing was not in vain.

By a man who gave value,

To the lives and its qualities

By achieving a step

A step that ensured the honor

The honor of Eritrean life

I witnessed,

A minister,

Pass away…….

Untimely passing

Leaving legacies everywhere and with all

But what I witnessed that touched more,

Eritrean life honored by the world

In the way that it should

In contrast to the martyrs that passed

In contrast,

To those who received no attention

By the world!

May you be honored by the Almighty….

May The Almighty bless his family

In honor of His Excellency, Minister Saleh Meki
