The victory scored on the Nakfa front shook the Ethiopian regime.
Although, the dictator Mengistu admitted that the very existence of his government
was in danger, he nevertheless refused to give peace a chance.
Instead, he declared state of emergency in Eritrea and started to massacre civilians.
The first victim of his policy was the village Sheep. Here 400 men, women and
children were massacred,
many ground down by tanks.
