Merhaba
for everyone!
Merhaba
Tutorial was created to serve as a starting point for those seeking to
learn Tigrinia but who have been hindered by the lack of good instructional
materials. The purpose of Merhaba tutorial is to give the student
the means to easily learn and practice what is necessary to speak, read,
and write what best can be called conversational Tigrinia. While
basic elements of grammar are covered in this tutorial, this package is
not intended to provide an in-depth or academic study of Tigrinia.
It will however help you learn the basic alphabet and structure of the
language, along with hundreds of commonly used words, all in a self-paced
and (we hope) fun environment.
This
program is prepared in such a way that it can be used by all types of
people who want to learn Tigrinia. Some of the users could be:
- Eritrean
kids who are born in Diaspora
- Eritrean
youth who grew in Diaspora and can read English
- Foreigners
(parents/children) who want to learn Tigrinia
- Adult
Eritreans who want to explore and learn their own Tigrinia.
Colors
and sounds are used to help you intuitively understand the structure of
the language. Hundreds of words and pictures are included to enrich and
expand your vocabulary. With a single click, you can hear how all the
words you see on your screen are pronounced. Where applicable, audio instructions
in Tigrinia are given to help you understand a subject. If you cannot
understand Tigrinia, an explanation in English is embedded in the program
so that you can refer to it on-the-fly. An online help section will help
you quickly familiarize yourself with the program's controls.
It
is a common knowledge that kids won't sit long to study a language if
it is not made to be fun. That is why the exercises in this tutorial have
been created in a way that entertains kids while they learn. Children
voices are used to attract their attention, and an entertainment center
helps kids learn and have fun at the same time. The entertainment center
encompasses:
- An
interactive clock
- An
interactive piano
- An
interactive dressing room
- Many
songs that kids will learn to sing and enjoy
- A
multimedia kids' story.
All audio is recorded at 44,100 Hz, 16-bit CD-quality sound so that you
(we hope) never tire of it. There is also a brief history of Eritrea
and pictures to enrich your kids knowledge about the land and its people.
The national anthem of Eritrea, both in text and song, is included so
you and your kids can sing it out loud, and be proud.
